Super Salesmen
Sydney Morning Herald

SIR: Recession depth-gauge reading for this month: a novel form of selling- hand-in-the-window at any participating major intersection. For sale: squeegee-clean windscreen outside, complementary warm charitable feeling inside.
Ten points for initiative ... or is that opportunism?
"G'day."
"Ah ..."
Wash wash, wipe wipe.
"I didn't ..."
"Any spare change there, mate?"
"No."
... That last response earning a look you'd expect for kicking over a Salvo's bucket. But dressed in designer shorts and Reeboks, this salesperson was hardly one of Grandfather's legends-of-the-Great-Depression.
I confess. My real gripe is this: I drive a recessed auto which simply doesn't deserve such a treat.

Hebersham.
